To embed FIRST’s message of Gracious Professionalism, we are strengthening the Las Vegas community by not limiting use of our equipment to our school. Students from any school are welcomed through our open shop policy to learn how to use all of our equipment that might not otherwise be available.
Realizing the large number of new FIRST teams in Las Vegas who are unable to make the commute and attain all of the tools needed to make their own parts led us to create the Mobile Machine Shop: a large trailer with a vast array of machining equipment. When a team requires its use, we offer our tools and expertise by training them to properly use the equipment.
This Mobile Machine Shop makes for a closer community, with other teams knowing that they have machining support. Rob Culberg, coach of FRC rookie team 5429, received machining support and says that Team 987 members “go out of their way to make us successful.”
